Food & Drinks

At the summit of Gaustatoppen, you’ll find several dining options. Gaustatoppen Turisthytte (DNT lodge) is open from the winter holidays through the autumn holidays. Provianten is a self-service kiosk open during the opening hours of Gaustabanen. Kongeloungen and the Lytte- og sendesalen are available for private events.

Provianten – self-service kiosk

Provianten is the kiosk located by the exit to Tuddalstippen just outside Gaustabanen’s Upper Station at the top of Gaustatoppen. Here you will find a wide selection of kiosk items and a simple range of food. The kiosk is open on a self-service basis during Gaustabanen’s opening hours. When staffed, we also serve Norwegian pancakes (sveler) and other treats.

Kiosk items include:

  • Clothing and gear

  • Sweets and snacks

  • Baguettes and pastries

  • Hot and cold drinks

DNT-hytta – traditional lodge food

A few steps above Tuddalstippen and the Upper Station lies one of the first tourist cabins built in Norway. Here you can enjoy lunch, dinner and homemade waffles with an impressive view. It is also possible to order meals for groups, and accommodation is available. The DNT-hytta is staffed and its café is open every day from the winter holidays to the autumn holidays.

Kongeloungen and the Lytte- og sendesalen

Our main restaurant is Kongeloungen, with the historic Lytte- og sendesalen on the floor above. The premises are located at the very top, inside the mountain, and were once the heart of what used to be the secret defence installation.

Kongeloungen was named after King Olav V, as the hall was renovated for the first time in connection with his visit. Lytte- og sendesalen was the room where monitoring took place.

Kongeloungen and Lytte- og sendesalen are open only for events, groups or during peak season. At Kongeloungen, we have our own chefs and also collaborate with renowned guest chefs to create truly unique dining experiences. A shared principle across all concepts is transparency about the origin of ingredients, so you can see where they come from. We can accommodate groups of 15 to 250 people.
