Everyone is welcome to take Gaustabanen, but please note that the railway was built in a different era and has some limitations.
Wheelchair users must bring a foldable travel wheelchair.
Passengers who are unable to walk on their own will need to be lifted through a doorway that is 50 cm wide and carried up two staircases with 20 steps each.
If you require assistance, please arrange to bring your own support person(s), as staff are not able to provide lifting or carrying help

All hiking, skiing, and movement on Gaustatoppen is at your own risk.

It’s also possible to pre-book dinner and overnight accommodation at the cabin.

Gaustabanen can transport up to 24 passengers each way. There are two carriages operating inside the mountain, and they meet midway inside the mountain.

The tram transports passengers into the mountain to the carriage going up, and brings passengers out who are coming down.

CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR

Vinteren stiller strenge krav til bekledning. Du bør ha på varme og vindtette klær, og huske ull innerst mot kroppen.

Den Norske Turistforening (DNT) har laget en fin oversikt over hvordan du går riktig kledd i vinterfjellet.
