Norseman

Zalaris Norseman Xtreme Triathlon 2026 has its finish line at Gaustatoppen. This is one of the world's toughest triathlons.

Norseman Xtreme Triathlon is known as one of the most demanding triathlon competitions in the world, attracting athletes from across the globe who want to push themselves to their absolute limits. The race begins in the cold waters of the Hardangerfjord with a 3.8 km swim, before competitors set off on a 180 km cycling stage across Hardangervidda, often in challenging and unpredictable conditions.

The finish is legendary: a full marathon ending at the summit of Gaustatoppen, 1,883 metres above sea level. Here, the iconic black jersey finish awaits – a prize only the very best get to compete for.

For spectators and support crews, this is a unique opportunity to witness true determination up close. Gaustabanen provides easy access to the summit, making it possible to be there as athletes take their final, decisive steps across the finish line. Up here, surrounded by magnificent scenery and views across large parts of southern Norway, moments unfold that leave a lasting impression – both for the competitors and those cheering them on.
