Be the first on the mountain. We offer early departures and coffee to start your day.
During Easter and at other peak times when the mountain is busy, we offer early morning skiing. This gives you the opportunity to experience a truly special morning on skis before the rest of the world has woken up.
Skiing at dawn creates a calm and atmospheric setting. The mountain landscape lies still, the air is clear and fresh, and you have the mountain almost to yourself. Open slopes and natural lines stand out clearly in the low morning light, offering a unique start to the day.
Gaustabanen marks a recommended, avalanche safe route from the summit. The marked descent is a moderately steep, ungroomed slope running from Tuddalstippen down to the entrance of Gaustabanen.
The descent is 2.4 kilometres long, with a maximum gradient of just under 30 degrees, and is suitable for intermediate skiers of all ages. As the route runs from tunnel entrance to tunnel entrance, getting back up is just as easy as skiing down. This is a fantastic opportunity for a safe and atmospheric summit experience in the morning light.
Avalanche risk is significant outside the recommended descent on Gaustatoppen.
All access and skiing take place at your own risk.
We will notify you when early morning skiing is scheduled.
